Here comes the Onkyo HT-RC180, a receiver with more inputs than I hope
I shall on demand, capacity hook more speakers than I have room for.
Some may see this as an exaggeration, but for me it's a luxury to know
that I will always have enough room to grow. Highlights include 5
connectivity, the Onkyo 1080p HMDI ports, 2 component video, 3
audio-optical, 3 coaxial digital, and a phono input. You can save up to
11 surround speakers and 2 subwoofers powered unit either.
Alternatively, you can use a stereo output into two other rooms or
areas. However, if you continue to run at 7.1 surround sound in your
main room, other areas have separate amplifiers. Finally, it supports
the speaker at the 4-16 ohms.
The design of the Onkyo nothing special. It is basically a
black-box size and weight (see my photo included). But it is a
well-developed case before an impression of strength and an aluminum
panel. The door on the front feels more robust than some doors.
Finally, there is a big bright screen, easy to read across the room.
The remote control is very sophisticated way. It can be programmed
on the TV, receiver and DVD player all at once and go through the
necessary inputs to make. There are three buttons on the remote labeled
"My film," My TV "and" Find My Music "to the program this way. The
remote is universal and can be programmed to operate virtually any
device. Currently it controls my Panasonic TV, Panasonic DVD recorder,
LG Blu-ray and iPod dock with Apple. I was very impressed to see that
with the iPod dock-working. Programming the remote is simple and is
usually done via the receiver's on-screen menu that really the bar
codes into the remote control (see my photo included), or if the code
is not found by the remotes at each other and programming in this way.
The remote control is built in a format agreeable and good, but could
the piano black finish which attracts fingerprints lose (see my photo
included).
You'll notice that I did not mention the sound quality yet, and
because I do not consider myself an audiophile. I'm an electronics guru
with an eye for good form. I have included a guru on a budget, but for
me, I have been reusing the 5 surround speakers and son, with my
Panasonic home theater system. Although I had to buy a powered
subwoofer, and bought the Sony SA-W2500. First, I am pleased to offer
the recipients connection options, and the sound quality would be a
marginal improvement. Boy was I wrong! Even with the same speakers,
with the exception of the subwoofer, the sound is much more detailed
and clear. It is really terminal. Nothing sounds dull or compressed,
yet it sounds distribute and surroundy. I am hearing and nuances I had
never seen before, and this applies whatever the source. I think music
sounds better with Dolby Pro Logic II in the music. (Note: the music
that I listen to the receiver of my iPod from the Apple dock with a
mini-plug to stereo RCA connector. The songs on the iPod are all
256kbps AAC, and 99% of them were studio burned CD.) The Onkyo supports
several methods of ambient sound, including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD
Master Audio.
All my video sources through the Onkyo, and I have noticed no
deterioration in the quality or any connection problem, if I do with my
720p Panasonic 32 "LCD TV via HDMI.
The AM / FM tuner works well and makes a decent signal. The
receiver is also Sirius satellite and HD-capable. To use either
service, you must purchase the required modules. With the Ethernet port
on the back, you can listen to Internet radio services like Pandora and
Rhapsody (unfortunately, the recipient may not) use near an Ethernet
port, so I am not able to turn this feature.
Also included is the Onkyo Audyssey system MultiEQ. It consists of
a microphone that you plug into the receiver and place in a maximum of
6 points in space, and it is considered to calibrate the receiver and
speakers to the number of speakers, size, ideal crossover for the
subwoofer and acoustic properties .
Finally, make sure you are in the task of setting this up, select,
cables and speakers, use the Son, and adjust the settings. The manual
is over 100 pages for a reason, be sure to read it.
