I've just this device last week, Little Brother meets, the HMC150. The HMC40 makes some welcome improvements in the market. I am a producer on the training with a lot of individual work and participated in some great workshops. After two years of shooting HD 1920 on the bottom, I must say that this unit impressed me.

PROS:
1) MPEG-4. Shoots very good quality in a tiny light. Just love it. Even the weather has a capacity decline against roto safe ING Office for a period effect.
2) You can also press when two HMC40s carryon same size as the Pelikan 150th
3) Start your photos on a Mac in just 2-3 minutes, without any hold. No transcoding required, no P2 cards or $ 600. But you should be somewhat faster than the simple use of Class 6 SDHC support will increase if you can get the quality a bit, otherwise artifacts (image problems) with a quick movement and striped clothing. The same problem that all record slower than the camera.
4) I agree with the rental and HMC150 Redrock cool / litus projects to the upper end, if necessary. This camera is great for the plans for HD-DVD or streaming.
5) have beautiful portraits with a sampling rate of 4:2:0.
6) We produce our own stuff to make profits and customers come again and again. At a price of $ 1995 retail, I can finally afford, two cameras have beautiful HD.

CONS:
A) Manual fashionistas get to the menu button. I like the function keys with all the same features. No different than with an iPhone.
B) two ways in which her between noise (at best) or use the AC / Panasonic BeachTek for the camera. I like to use a separate sound or TASCAM Digital Recorders Fostex four separate channels (1 mic, 2 mic) desert. That gives you plenty of room for posted remix or replace the sounds. Great sound is still 50% of production.
C) It is not the same lens 150/170, with which you need different accessories.
D) No timecode jam sync between two cameras. This camera has its own time code (HH: MM: SS: FF). Now, I lived without timecode sync since I began. It adds a little time in the office for the coating manually shots and soundtracks. This is not a problem, continue with a board under anyway. Wings do kinda nostalgic charm to the crew and spectators.

I hope this helps. Upgrade cameras every two years, while the resale value is always a good plan. After recording a weekend that sum, I think it is a good two-year relationship. I wish you the best.
